Why trade links?:
Everyone is fired up about search engines and they should
be. Search engines bring lots of visitors. Of course you have to kill yourself with the proper
promotional efforts to even get anywhere close to the top 20 positions. And then next week
you could disappear altogether. But the latest study has shown that the majority of people
find sites by clicking on links from other sites. Getting LINKED is a much more reliable
way to ensure steady traffic to your site. Also consider the following:
-
To some search engines, the more
links coming "into" and going "out of" your site make your site appear
more valuable when someone is searching for your product or service. This puts you higher
in their results list.
-
People come to my site and might
not find what they want. I had one person say, "You're too funny for our crowd."
hahaha That's pretty funny in itself. I'm happy for one of my link or bureau partners to
get that business. AND I'm happy to get a chance at business that is not right for you.
-
I may be booked for a particular
date. I'll direct that business to my link and bureau partners first.
-
You and I may have complimentary,
yet non-competitive products and services. We help our clients easily find what they need
while we help ourselves.
-
Your site will look more
professional and client oriented.
-
Even if you don't get more traffic from a site
that you're trading with, you still get the benefit of the "link popularity"
with the search engines. Don't be a dummy. That's the most important part.
-
The synergy effect will get us all
more visitors than we would have gotten individually. Think of our sites all linked together
as one giant bullseye. . . which is much easier to hit than many tiny ones.
-
I believe in competition.. . . I
believe more in cooperation. Do you?
What's
the down side?
- It is possible that someone will
leave your site and not come back.
Here's my candid
thoughts on that and I'm going to give it to you straight:
I'm not going to put my links button at the top of my home page so they can jump
straight to you. You think I'm crazy? I want my visitors to hire me and buy my products
and services. However, if I haven't grabbed them by the time they get to my links button,
then I haven't grabbed them enough to buy at all and that's too bad for me. So, why not
let my friends have a shot at them before they leave forever? I want the same from you. If
you haven't convinced your visitors with your main pitch to buy from you, then I want a
shot at them. I don't want your business. I want a shot at business that didn't want you.
-- YOU CAN BE SURE THEY ARE LEAVING ANYWAY.
AND ONE MORE THING . . . Even if no one ever clicks on your link on my site
it is still very valuable to you because of search engine link popularity. The
search engines see the link and rate your site higher. That's why you and I
should link all our sites together.
